Before joining the Colors of Cancer Support Group, I really didn't have an outlet for talking out my issues. I belong to another support group but it's mainly a writing group. We write about our experiences. And that's fine, but sometimes you need to talk things out. You need to share with others and hear their thoughts and perspectives. Talking with the members of the Colors of Cancer Support Group, I found brothers and sisters who were experiencing similar circumstances and feelings. Coming from similar backgrounds, there wasn't a whole lot of explanations or clarifications that were needed. We felt each other's pain and could relate to each other's struggles as well as each other's joys and good times. I like how care and attention is given everyone; no time limit is put on anyone. If someone needs time to work through a difficult situation, time is given. Such genuine care and consideration is given to everyone and it is beautiful to be a part of such a loving group.
Having this meeting to look forward to has added a depth and dimension to an otherwise boring same ole, same ole existence. Now I approach each week looking for things that I might share with these brothers and sisters, things that might make the journey easier, better, happier. Having heard from them helps me throughout my week as I try to carry out the many beneficial tips they've shared during the sessions. It gives you something to look forward to and something to think about as well as a whole new group of loving, caring friends that I otherwise would never have met. I'm so grateful for the Colors of Cancer Support Group.
